भारत के युवाओं को स्वामी विवेकानंद को संदेश-भाग 1

Supreme value of youth period is incalculable and indescribable.  Youth life is the most precious life.  Youth is the best time.  The way in which you utilize this period will decide the nature of coming years that lie ahead of you.  Your happiness, your success, your honor and your good name all depend upon the way in which you live now, in this present period. Remember this. This wonderful period of the first state of your life is related to you as the soft wet clay in the hands of the potter.  Skillfully the potter gives it the right and correct shapes and forms, which he intends to give.  Even so, you can wisely mould your life, your character, your physical health and strength, in short your entire nature in any way in which you make up your mind to do.  And you must do this now.

हिंदी- युवाकाल का सर्वोच्च मूल्य अगणनीय (incalculable) और अवर्णनीय (indescribable) है। युवा जीवन सबसे कीमती जीवन है। जवानी सबसे अच्छा समय है। जिस तरह से आप इस अवधि का उपयोग करते हैं, वह आने वाले वर्षों की प्रकृति को तय करेगा जो आपके आगे झूठ बोलते हैं। आपकी खुशी, आपकी सफलता, आपका सम्मान और आपका अच्छा नाम सभी इस वर्तमान समय में आपके जीवन जीने के तरीके पर निर्भर करते हैं। यह याद रखना। आपके जीवन की पहली अवस्था की यह अद्भुत अवधि आपके लिए कुम्हार के हाथों की नरम गीली मिट्टी से संबंधित है। कुशलता से कुम्हार इसे सही और स्पष्ट  आकार और रूप देता है, जिसे वह देने का इरादा रखता है। फिर भी आप समझदारी से अपने जीवन को, अपने चरित्र को, अपने शारीरिक स्वास्थ्य और शक्ति को, अपने पूरे स्वभाव को संक्षेप में किसी भी तरह से ढाल सकते हैं, जिसमें आप अपना मन बना लेते हैं, और अब आपको ऐसा करना ही होगा।

O fortunate youth, recognize this great duty.  Feel this wonderful privilege.   Take up this adventure.  God watches you graciously, ever ready to help and guide. I wish you to be great.  The world has put its faith in you.  Your elders keep their hopes in you.  Now youth means to place your firm confidence in yourself and exercise your hopeful determination and resolution and willing good intentions in this beautiful task of self-culture.  This will truly bring supreme satisfaction and fulfillment not only to you, but also to all concerned.  The shaping of your life is indeed in your own hands.

हिंदी- “हे सौभाग्यशाली युवाओं, इस महान कर्तव्य को पहचानो। इस अद्भुत विशेषाधिकार को महसूस करें। इस साहसिक कार्य को अपनाओ। भगवान आपकी सहायता करने और मार्गदर्शन करने के लिए तत्परता से, आपकी कृपा देखता है”। मैं आपके महान बनने की कामना करता हूं। दुनिया ने आप पर अपना विश्वास रखा है। आपके बुजुर्ग आपमें अपनी आशाएँ रखते हैं। अब युवाओं का अर्थ है अपने आप पर दृढ़ विश्वास रखना और अपने आशाजनक संकल्प का प्रयोग करना और स्व-संस्कृति के इस सुंदर कार्य में अच्छे इरादों की इच्छा करना। यह वास्तव में न केवल आपके लिए बल्कि सभी संबंधितों के लिए सर्वोच्च संतुष्टि और पूर्णता लाएगा। आपके जीवन का आकार वास्तव में आपके ही हाथों में है।

Practise virtue, persevere in virtue.  Become established in virtue.  Shine as an embodiment of noblest virtue and heroic adherence to goodness.  Youth is meant for this grand process.  Youth life is the active development and fulfillment of these processes.  This period of your time provides the suitable and favourable fields for the working out of this extremely important and most indispensable process in life.  This is the special significance, the great importance and supreme value of youth life.  It signifies the creation of noble personality.  It is atma-Viakasa.  It is Atma –Nirmana.  Please try to understand the correct implication of the term successful life.  When you talk of success with reference to life, it does not merely mean succeeding in everything that you undertake or do; it does not merely mean succeeding in fulfilling all wants or getting whatever you desire; it does not just mean acquiring a name or attaining a position or imitating fashionable ways appearing modern or up-to-date.  The essence of true success is what you make of yourself. It is the conduct of life that you develop, it is the character that you cultivate and it is the type of person you become. This is the central meaning of successful living.  Therefore, you will see this important matter is not so much a question of success in life.  ( Jivan – Me-  Safalta) but rather it is success of life. Such successful life is one that succeeds in producing an ideal individual, a noble man.  Your success is not measured in terms of what all you obtained but in term of what you become, how you live and what actions you do.  Upon this point reflect well and attain great happiness. 

हिंदी- “पुण्य का अभ्यास करो, पुण्य में दृढ़ रहो। पुण्य में स्थापित हो जाओ। शील के रूप में अच्छे गुणों का अवतार और अच्छाई के प्रति शौर्य। युवा इस भव्य प्रक्रिया के लिए है। युवा जीवन इन प्रक्रियाओं का सक्रिय विकास और पूर्ति है”। आपके समय की यह अवधि जीवन में इस अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण और सबसे अपरिहार्य प्रक्रिया से बाहर काम करने के लिए उपयुक्त और अनुकूल क्षेत्र प्रदान करती है। यह विशेष महत्व है, युवा जीवन का महान महत्व और सर्वोच्च मूल्य है। यह महान व्यक्तित्व के निर्माण का प्रतीक है। यह आत्मतत्व है। यह आत्मानुशासन है। कृपया सफल जीवन शब्द के सही निहितार्थ को समझने की कोशिश करें। जब आप जीवन के संदर्भ में सफलता की बात करते हैं, तो इसका मतलब केवल उस चीज में सफल होना नहीं है जो आप करते हैं या करते हैं. इसका अर्थ केवल यह नहीं है कि आप जो चाहते हैं, उसे प्राप्त करना या प्राप्त करना चाहते हैं। इसका अर्थ केवल नाम प्राप्त करना या कोई पद प्राप्त करना या आधुनिक या अप-टू-डेट दिखने वाले फैशनेबल तरीकों की नकल करना नहीं है। सच्ची सफलता का सार वही है जो आप खुद बनाते हैं। यह जीवन का आचरण है जिसे आप विकसित करते हैं, यह चरित्र है जिसे आप खेती करते हैं और यह उस व्यक्ति का प्रकार है जो आप बन जाते हैं। यह सफल जीवन का केंद्रीय अर्थ है। इसलिए आप देखेंगे कि यह महत्वपूर्ण मामला जीवन में सफलता का सवाल नहीं है। (जीवन् – में-सफ़लता) बल्कि यह जीवन की सफलता है। ऐसा सफल जीवन वह है जो एक आदर्श व्यक्ति, कुलीन व्यक्ति का निर्माण करने में सफल होता है। आपकी सफलता को इस बात से नहीं मापा जाता है कि आपने क्या हासिल किया है बल्कि आप क्या बनते हैं, कैसे जीते हैं और आप क्या कार्य करते हैं। इस बिंदु पर अच्छी तरह से परिलक्षित होता है और बहुत खुशी मिलती है।

In our grand culture they conceived of life in four stage-preliminary stage, development stage, flowering or blossoming stage and the culminating fruitful stage. These can be described as he preparatory period, the practising period for the satisfactory growth of the latter stage.  Yours is the stage of preliminary preparations for right and successful living.  Herein is its supreme value and great importance.  This is like the ploughing and sowing of seeds in the field by a farmer.  Now, you can easily understand, what is the significance and importance of this in connection with the harvest, which any one would wish to reap later on.  And also, it is like the laying of the foundation for an important building you wish to construct.  If this building is something very important to you, then you just think how much more important its proper foundation becomes in your view.  The strong and continued existence of the building depends certainly upon the foundation.  This is the stage you are now in.  Let your preparations be wise, correct and of such kind that will lead to your true welfare, supreme good and lasting satisfaction and happiness.  This must engage your active, enthusiastic attention throughout the period of your youth life.  Our culture refers to this stage as the Brahmacharya Ashram orVidyarthi Jivan.  Here, you acquire knowledge of not only subjects like History, Geography, Mathematics, etc., but also about human nature, correct Vyavahara, science of Self- control, art of developing pure mind, Dharma, the duties of man and the proper relationship between you, your family, your society and the world.

हिंदी- हमारी भव्य संस्कृति में उन्होंने चार चरण-प्रारंभिक अवस्था, विकास अवस्था, फूल या खिलने की अवस्था और फलदायी अवस्था में जीवन की कल्पना की। इन्हें उत्तरवर्ती अवस्था के संतोषजनक विकास के लिए तैयारी की अवधि, अभ्यास की अवधि के रूप में वर्णित किया जा सकता है। आपका सही और सफल जीवन-यापन के लिए प्रारंभिक तैयारी का चरण है। यहाँ इसके सर्वोच्च मूल्य और महान महत्व है। यह एक किसान द्वारा खेत में जुताई और बुवाई की तरह है। अब आप आसानी से समझ सकते हैं कि फसल के संबंध में इसका क्या महत्व है, जिसे कोई भी बाद में फिर से प्राप्त करना चाहेगा। और यह भी, यह एक महत्वपूर्ण इमारत की नींव रखने जैसा है जिसे आप बनाना चाहते हैं। यदि यह इमारत आपके लिए बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है, तो आप बस यह सोचते हैं कि आपके विचार में इसकी उचित नींव कितनी महत्वपूर्ण है। इमारत का मजबूत और निरंतर अस्तित्व निश्चित रूप से नींव पर निर्भर करता है। यह वह चरण है जो आप अभी कर रहे हैं। अपनी तैयारियों को बुद्धिमान, सही और इस तरह का होने दें. जिससे आपका सच्चा कल्याण, सर्वोच्च अच्छा और स्थायी संतुष्टि और खुशी हो। यह आपके युवा जीवन की अवधि में आपके सक्रिय, उत्साही ध्यान को संलग्न करना चाहिए। हमारी संस्कृति इस चरण को ब्रह्मचर्य आश्रम या विद्यावती जीवन के रूप में संदर्भित करती है। यहां आप न केवल इतिहास, भूगोल, गणित आदि विषयों के बारे में ज्ञान प्राप्त करते हैं, बल्कि मानव स्वभाव, सही व्यवहार, स्व-नियंत्रण का विज्ञान, शुद्ध दिमाग विकसित करने की कला, धर्म, मनुष्य के कर्तव्यों और आपके, आपके परिवार, आपके समाज और दुनिया के बीच उचित संबंध के बारे में भी जानते हैं।

Youth is that wonderful time in life when energy is limitless, human creativity is at its best and the ’never say die’ spirit is at its peak. Today, one keeps seeing and reading about the achievements of hundreds of young people in practically all spheres of life. Demographically, the India of today is at its youngest best. Nearly 78% of our country’s population is less than 40 years old. Imagine the potential energy in these millions of young Indians and you can then fathom the fact that we could face any challenge as a Nation. But are we doing anything to internalize and understand the potential of this enormous power that could make us one of the leading Nations in the world, not just in material terms but also in every conceivable way that the human mind can think of?

हिंदी- युवावस्था जीवन का वह अद्भुत समय होता है जब ऊर्जा असीम होती है, मानव रचनात्मकता अपने सर्वश्रेष्ठ स्तर पर होती है और “कभी मत कहो” की भावना अपने चरम पर होती है। आज कोई भी जीवन के सैकड़ों क्षेत्रों में सैकड़ों युवाओं की उपलब्धियों के बारे में देखता और पढ़ता रहता है। भौगोलिक रूप से आज का भारत अपने सबसे अच्छे स्तर पर है। हमारे देश की लगभग 78% जनसंख्या 40 वर्ष से कम है। इन लाखों युवा भारतीयों में संभावित ऊर्जा की कल्पना करें और आप इस तथ्य को थाह सकते हैं कि हम एक राष्ट्र के रूप में किसी भी चुनौती का सामना कर सकते हैं। लेकिन क्या हम इस विशाल शक्ति की क्षमता को आंतरिक बनाने और समझने के लिए कुछ भी कर रहे हैं जो हमें दुनिया के अग्रणी राष्ट्रों में से एक बना सकता है, न केवल भौतिक दृष्टि से, बल्कि हर उस बोधगम्य तरीके से भी जो मानव मन के बारे में सोच सकता है.
